Protecting a 1960s Driveway
A homeowner near the university was gutting a classic 1960s ranch-style house, ripping out heavy plaster and cast-iron tubs. The original concrete driveway was narrow and already showing its age, making the contractor nervous about cracking it further with a heavy truck. They needed a bin close to the garage for easy loading, but there wasn't much room to maneuver without tearing up the lawn or blocking the neighbor's access.
I drove by to measure the clearance myself before dispatching the truck. We went with a 20-yard dumpster, which handles the weight of heavy demo debris without taking up the footprint of a 30-yarder. Our driver laid down thick pressure-treated planks to distribute the load and protect that vintage concrete. We dropped it right on the mark, swapped it out once mid-project, and hauled it away leaving no tire marks behind.
Esteban's crew protected our old driveway and got the bin exactly where we needed it.
